Consecutive interpreting is the most popular type of interpretation work. The interpreter listen to what the speaker is saying, the interpreter converts the words into the target language after the speaker delivers one or two sentences. The speaker pauses and waits for the interpreter to convey the message before continuing with their speech.
The interpreter may facilitate communication by offering notes while interpreting, especially when working with long sentences.
The primary advantage is clarity. Since, only one party speaks at a time, all parties can more easily remain on the same page.
Consecutive interpreting works best for small groups or one-on-one conversations like Medical examination room, IME's (Independent Medical Examinations), Mediations, Depositions/EUOs.
